Half-staff

As members of the NMA converge on Kansas City, the flag at the Hilton, like flags around the country, flies at half staff.


This 2016 reunion takes place during a period of sober national reflection. Such a celebration is not contradictory, for we celebrate more than friendship.We celebrate all those who have served this country, not only in bell bottom trousers, but in a variety of uniforms. And particularly, we celebrate the service of those who stand guard today.

I won't forget these things this week. How could I? I will be surrounded by the finest Americans:
