The School of Music's rigorous training regimen

Computers in the classroom. MP3 players in the practice rooms. What's next--private bathrooms in the barracks?

Oh...never mind.

mmmm--Not seeing any "White Hats" in this video--thought it was the ARMED FORCES SOM not the Army/M.C. School of Music--to many Green Guys for me!

Actually the Army has de-consolidated from the SOM the Army basic course is now only 10 weeks. And the Army students do not play with and of the USMC/USN ensembles. Pretty much they do their own thing. (like that is new)

In short....The 3 services only share the building and Army does their thing....USMC/Navy does theirs.

Personally, I think the SOM is an archaic "school" that really serves no purpose...The USAF runs their program just fine without one...and most of the Navy guys advance out anyway. If we "hire" good players out of college why do we need the SOM to "teach" them what a major scale is?
